When you are a unique, creative individual it is likely that you will take pride in your identity. Determine what would make you happier and as long as it is healthy, implement it. Have fun with your identity and express yourself with style, office and home décor and don’t worry about others. When you feel that you are what you want to be you are on your way to personal development.

Start your day with some light meditation, prayer, or quiet thought. This helps you start your day on the right foot and sets the stage to accomplish a lot. Try it and see how different a day is when you approach it from an attitude of peace.

Make sure you are getting eight or nine regular hours of sleep every night. Keeping a good sleep schedule is crucial to your mental health and well being. Sleeping too much or too little can deal a major blow to your mental state. Likewise, sleeping erratic hours may have an adverse effect as well.

One great way to make sure you are at peace and live a full and healthy life is through daily devotion. Many many people would testify that when you start your day in God’s word and in prayer, you have a much better day than you would’ve had without having done that. Try it, and see just how important and beneficial it is.

Do one thing at a time. Much has been made of the ability to multi-task, and most of us do it. However, you’ll be much more satisfied if you start one task and focus on that one task until it’s completed. You can give everything in your life the attention it deserves.

Anxiety and dread often result from an individual’s inability (or refusal) to accept that not everything in life is certain; it simply is impossible to know the full details of something, including whether or not it will even occur. Eliminate this anxiety by coming to terms with the very real nature of uncertainty. Focusing all of your mental resources on a worrisome potential consequence will not determine whether or not the event will even occur.

For greater self-awareness and a boost of spirits, enjoy or create art. It is so easy to get wrapped up in ourselves and limit our view of the world. When you look at truly stunning and magnificent art, it opens your awareness and helps you envision possibilities. When you create art, it awakens playful and childlike aspects of your mind.

Find the areas in your life that you lack confidence the most. If you take the time to plan what areas you are lacking confidence in, you will find that it is easier to gain the confidence in those areas, rather than trying to gain overall confidence in all things in your life.

Discovering who you are as an individual can be one of the hardest things to do in life – personal development or not. Experimentation and self-expression are essential to be successful in becoming your own.
